ORLANDO (FL) – Kognitiv Spark, makers of RemoteSpark the Mixed Reality remote worker support tool built for Microsoft HoloLens, are now able to operate their solution on both the Microsoft Azure cloud and Azure Stack.
The Azure cloud version leverages the robustness of the cloud from any Azure datacenter to provide a unified, geo-replicated service, as close to users as possible. The Azure Stack solution offers an on-premise computing option that allows for Azure loud functionalities to be operated on an organization’s network. This is one of the first instances of an industrial-strength Mixed Reality solution operating either in the cloud or in on-premise — including fully air-gapped — environments.
The Microsoft Azure team is set to demonstrate RemoteSpark connected to Azure Stack, at Microsoft Ignite taking place from Nov. 4 to 8, 2019.
“We want organizations to understand that their data can live in the location defined by their data governance policies. This gives them the flexibility to operate their remote support solutions in the cloud on their own networks” said Ryan Groom, CTO and Co-Founder of Kognitiv Spark. “With these recent innovations, RemoteSpark can run secure reliable Mixed Reality support calls with 3D interactive holograms even connected to live IoT data feeds that also leverage AI object recognition to streamline the delivery of task-relevant assets, regardless of where the data is computed and stored.”
The RemoteSpark client runs on the Microsoft HoloLens 1 and 2, Surface Hub 2 and Windows 10 PCs with the backend on the Azure platform, cloud or Azure Stack family of devices.
On-premise computing solutions are often sought by organizations operating in data-sensitive industries like aerospace manufacturing, energy, telecommunications, defense and others which have data governance policies requiring data to be processed and stored their own privately controlled networks.
These policies have been a barrier to the adoption of Mixed Reality technologies in a number of these enterprise organizations due to cloud exclusive requirements of existing solutions. RemoteSpark paired with Azure Stack gives organizations the option to deploy remote worker support where they need it and complies with their data governance policies.
“Microsoft Azure provides a platform that extends from the public cloud all the way to the edge. The work we’ve done with Kognitiv Spark shows just how scalable and versatile technologies like HoloLens and RemoteSpark are when paired with Azure services. For customers that need this solution locally, they can run it on the Azure Stack family of devices,” said Henry Jerez, Principal Group PM Manager of Microsoft Azure. “When robust platforms like Azure pair with technology like Kognitiv Spark’s RemoteSpark, we can deliver tangible value to customers all over the world.”
From the cloud to the server room, RemoteSpark’s secure, low-bandwidth, Mixed Reality communications delivers a new dimension of industrial productivity and fulfills on the promise of industrial Mixed Reality.
