Sandiganbayan junks graft, malversation raps vs. ex-Palawan gov
MANILA, Dec. 28 (PNA) — The Sandiganbayan has dismissed the graft and malversation cases against former Palawan governor and now incumbent Games and Amusement Board (GAB) chair Abraham Kahlil Mitra.
The Sandiganbayan dismissed Mitra’s case because the prosecution violated his right to speedy disposition of his cases.
The Sandiganbayan First Division noted the fact-finding on Mitra case started in 2006 and preliminary investigation began in 2011.
It dismissed the PHP3-million graft case in connection with the fertilizer fund scam against Mitra over the prosecution delays.
Because of this, the Sandiganbayan also lifted the hold departure order (HDO) against Mitra and ordered the release of all the bail bonds posted.
Earlier, the Sandiganbayan has granted the motion to quash information filed by the camp of Mitra and his co-accused.
The case was filed in 2011, but the information of the case was filed only in 2016. (PNA)
