mHUB and MxD today named Siemens as Manufacturer of the Year and Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey & Company as Corporate Champions of the third annual Fourth Revolution Awards. The industry awards ceremony will take place on October 2, 2019 at the Museum of Science & Industry in Chicago to recognize leadership, innovation, and achievements of the Midwest’s manufacturing ecosystem.
The Manufacturer of the Year award recognizes an individual or manufacturing company that has demonstrated its excellence in business practices, innovative production processes, and productivity enhancements, and has made a significant financial investment to manufacturing capacity in the region.
Siemens has invested heavily in solving some of the most challenging questions facing manufacturing today, bringing its unique perspective as both a manufacturer and a solution provider to the fourth industrial revolution. Siemens is a founding partner of MxD and has demonstrated a range of technologies from Internet of Things to digital twins at its innovation center.
“Siemens is proud to drive global digital manufacturing transformation by leveraging a holistic digital twin that integrates software and automation across the value chain,” said Ken Hall, Digital Enterprise MxD Program Director at Siemens. “This enables merging the virtual and real worlds together to realize innovations faster and feed real production data into the digital twin for constant improvement. Siemens’ partnership with MxD enables an environment where current technologies and the art of the possible are experienced and made real.”
The Corporate Champion of the Year award recognizes a corporation that has made an impact on manufacturing through community-focused efforts, and significant financial investment through the region. Accenture, Boston Consulting Group, and McKinsey & Company have been active in civic consulting individually and in collaboration over the past 5-10 years. Most recently working together as major partners for the P33 initiative, their collective work has been key in driving economic development and technology initiatives across the region.
“We are honored that mHUB and MxD have chosen Accenture as one of this year’s Corporate Champions,” said Jim Coleman, Managing Director of Accenture’s Chicago Office. “The recognition is a true testament, not only to the growing innovation and technology in the Chicago, but the commitment that we and our peers have invested in making the fourth revolution a reality.”
“BCG has always been passionate about helping propel Chicago to its rightful place among the world’s top cities to live and work. With P33, we were able to demonstrate our commitment to strengthening the city’s competitive edge in the tech ecosystem by dedicating a full-time team of consultants to the effort pro bono,” said Gabrielle Novacek, Managing Director, Partner, and head of BCG’s Chicago Office. “When the leaders then asked us to help stand up an organization to implement the new strategy, we eagerly put the team to work on creating a sustainable operating model and supporting pitch meetings with key partners and investors to enable the incoming CEO. Now that P33is operational, we’re staying close to the work and looking forward to all the benefits Chicago will reap from this private sector-enabled partnership.”
“McKinsey’s contributions to the manufacturing economy have been multifaceted, anchored in the Digital Capability Center at MxD – the only such site in the Americas,” said Tony Gambell, Partner at McKinsey & Company. “We are proud to build upon a strong manufacturing legacy in the Midwest and honored to receive this recognition.”
