NGCP restores power lines in Batangas, Quezon provinces
CALAMBA CITY, Laguna, Dec. 27 (PNA) — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) on Tuesday announced the restoration of power lines in the provinces of Batangas and Quezon in the Calabarzon region which were cut-off at the height of Typhoon “Nina” on Monday.
Nelson Bautista, head, Regional Communications Division, said in his sent message that in the province of Batangas, the Batangas- Bolboc 69 kV line serving Meralco has been restored along with the Batangas-Ibaan-Rosario 69 kV Line serving the Batangas Electric Cooperative (BATELEC) II; Calaca-Taal 69kV Line serving BATELEC I; Calaca-Balayan-Nasugbu/Calatagan 69 kV Line also serving BATELEC I; and Batangas-Mabini-Cuenca 69kV Line serving BATELEC II.
In Quezon province, Bautista said that Gumaca-Atimonan 69 kV Line, Gumaca-Lopez 69 kV Line, and Pitogo-Mulanay 69 kV Line serving Quezon Electric Cooperative (QUEZELCO) I, power lines have been restored.
Bautista further said that NGCP has mobilized its line crews and is currently conducting aerial and ground patrols to inspect and assess the impact of the typhoon to its operations and facilities.
He explained that loss of power may be caused by affected transmission facilities of NGCP or distribution facilities of local distribution utilities or electric cooperatives adding that specific cities and municipalities affected by the power interruptions are determined by concerned Distribution Utilities, unless the outage affects the entire franchise area.
