The Texas Medical Board requires all personnel who provide medical services to patients in a pain clinic setting to complete 10 hours of continuing medical education in pain management each year. The state has additionally sought to address the prescribing activity of all physicians in the arena of controlled substances, with revised prescription forms that became mandatory this year, and PMP Aware™, the state’s prescription drug monitoring program.
