Nina’ damage to agri, infra in 3 regions reaches PHP5.1-B
MANILA, Jan. 2 (PNA) — Damage wrought to infrastructure and agriculture by Typhoon “Nina” in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Region V has so far reached PHP5,143,251,894.10.
National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) executive director Ricardo Jalad said agriculture incurred PHP4,121,697,999.10 damage while for infrastructure so far, is pegged at PHP1,021,553,895.
In this case, infrastructure includes roads, river control and school facilities, the NDRRMC chief added.
And due to the severe impact of “Nina,” the province of Batangas, Mulanay, Quezon; Naujan, Oriental Mindoro; City of Calapan, Oriental Mindoro, Puerto Galera, also in Oriental Mindoro; Gasan, Mogpog, Boac, Torrijos, all in Marinduque; the provinces of Albay, Catanduanes, Camarines Sur, and the municipalities of Jipapad, Maslog, Oras, Dolores, Can-avid, Taft, Sulat, Arteche and San Policarpio, all in Region VIII were all placed under a state-of-calamity.
And as of Monday, “Nina” affected families were placed at 424,223 or around 1,893,404 individuals in 1,698 barangays in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Regions V and VIII.
Three persons were also confirmed dead and 21 still missing in CALABARZON, MIMAROPA and Region VIII. (PNA)
