A2LA Contracted to Assess Louisiana Laboratories Under LELAP

Under this contract, A2LA staff will perform on-site assessments for a variety of laboratories, including commercial, federal, and state laboratories

In early 2020, A2LA was awarded a three-year contract with the Department of Environmental Quality of the State of Louisiana, making them one of a small group of providers authorized to assess laboratories under the Louisiana Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (LELAP). LELAP is responsible for accrediting environmental laboratories throughout the state of Louisiana, ensuring quality and consistency of reported results across all laboratories within their purview. This provides confidence that data, much of which is submitted to the Department of Environmental Quality or the Department of Natural Resources, is produced using reliable methods.

Under this contract, A2LA staff will perform on-site assessments for a variety of laboratories, including commercial, federal, and state laboratories, whose work requires that they be LELAP accredited. With over 40 years of experience in accreditation and a robust environmental testing accreditation program, A2LA’s team of expert assessors is well-prepared for this opportunity to support the state of Louisiana in their commitment to laboratory quality.

“A2LA is always looking to expand our accreditation capabilities and what we are able to offer our customers,” said Stephanie Rippeon, Accreditation Supervisor at A2LA. “Receiving the award to perform assessments on behalf of LELAP will allow us to further expand our footprint in the environmental field of testing. Understanding the accreditation needs of our environmental laboratories fuels A2LA to pursue these important roles with various states and offer our world-class accreditation services in support of their programs.  A2LA is now able to offer accreditation assessments for seven different states as well as the Department of Defense Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (DoD ELAP) and the Department of Energy Consolidated Audit Program (DOECAP).”
