AltMed Florida to Open its First Medical Cannabis Dispensary in Gainesville, near the University of Florida, with Grand Opening September 21

The majority owners of AltMed Florida have deep ties to UF with three generations of Gator alumni, a UF Endowment Chair and they’ve made significant contributions to the Dept. of Agriculture. Patients will have access to the award-winning MÜV™ Medical Cannabis products in a modern, open-concept retail experience.

AltMed Florida, the fastest growing MMTC in the state (source: OMMU), has announced the opening of its first MÜV™ Medical Cannabis Dispensary in Gainesville at 2020 SW 34th St., located in the 34th Street Plaza near the University of Florida (UF) campus.

The grand opening is scheduled for Saturday, Sept.21 at 10 a.m.

Licensed Florida medical cannabis patients will receive 25% off their entire first purchase and the first 100 patients will receive a MÜV SWAG bag with their purchase. Patients can also order online at http://www.muvfl.comfor express pickup or delivery.

This eighth MÜV Dispensary to open in Florida will offer an extensive selection of award-winning products including flower, pre-rolls, a wide range of vaporizer pens (without any cutting agents), metered dose inhalers, topicals, oral sprays, patent-pending encapsulation formulations in its Tinctures, 72-Hour Transdermal patches and transdermal gels. MÜV is also recognized for having the one of the widest selections of concentrates for patients needing macro-dosing options.

Like AltMed Florida’s seven current locations (Apollo Beach, Clearwater, Jacksonville, Longwood/Orlando, Sarasota, Tampa and Wellington/West Palm), the new Gainesville MÜV Dispensary stands out from others because it’s designed as a premium experience. Think Apple store, with a modern, open-concept design and expert staff with extensive training.

“Our dispensaries set the standard for quality products, service and overall patient experience at our current locations and we’re excited to offer our premium MÜV medical cannabis brand in Gainesville,” said AltMed Florida CEO John Tipton. “Our dispensaries are unlike anything in Florida and we invite licensed patients throughout Alachua, Newberry, Williston counties and beyond to visit our newest state-of-the-art location.”

The MÜV brand already has a wide following in other legal medical cannabis markets, including Arizona, where it has won five Best of Arizona medical cannabis awards.

MÜV products are sold exclusively in Florida at MÜV dispensaries because, unlike other states, Florida does not allow wholesale of product between license holders – only products that license holders make themselves can be sold in their dispensaries.

The Gainesville opening is particularly meaningful for the company because of the University of Florida connection with the Dickman Family, majority owners of AltMed Florida. The Dickman Family, which boasts three generations of UF alumni, has donated more than $1 million to UF and its department of agriculture and holds an endowed chair at the university, has more than 100 years of agriculture experience in the state. The Dickman Chair for Tomato Improvement in the department of agriculture is named after the family, which was the first to pre-package vegetables for same-day delivery from Florida to as far away as New York.

“The medical cannabis program in Florida is really an extension of the modernization of agriculture in the state,” said Glenn Dickman. “Successful businesses always have to be on the cutting edge of innovation, and this is another example as we continue to build the MÜV Medical Cannabis dispensary network to serve patients throughout the state. Of course, this one is extra special to me and our family due to our long history with Gainesville and UF.”
