The conference organizers identified two outstanding keynote speakers reflecting the breadth of the field: 

  • Ernesto Diaz-Flores, PhD, Assistant Adjunct Professor in the Department of Pediatrics/Hematology at University of California, San Francisco and experienced biochemist who specializes in identifying pioneering therapies for children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia will present an abstract titled “Pairing protein profiling with drug screens uncovers an effective therapy again high-risk leukemia.”
  • Ernest Hawk, MD, MPH, Vice President and Division Head for Cancer Prevention and Population Sciences, at University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center and holds the Boone Pickens Distinguished Chair for Early Prevention of Cancer, will present an abstract titled “Cancer Prevention for the practicing oncologist – recommendations for cancer patients and their families.”

Ernesto Diaz-Flores, Assistant Adjunct Professor, Department of Pediatrics/Hematology at University of California, San Francisco said, “Childhood leukemia continues to be one of the leading causes of childhood mortality, mainly due to particular subtypes of leukemia with high risk of relapse. My research focuses on identifying novel therapies, and my keynote delivery will highlight a promising preclinical study on hypodiploid acute leukemia. LabRoots represents a wonderful platform to showcase our latest advances in pre-clinical work for one of the most aggressive types of leukemia,” added Diaz-Flores.
