Fastec Imaging Releases the HS7 Full HD High-Speed Camera System

Fastec Imaging is pleased to announce the release of the HS7, a full HD high-speed camera with unique high-speed image transfer capabilities.

Designed primarily for laboratory and industrial use, the HS7 system combines a high-speed camera with a dedicated controller, thus simplifying setup, streamlining integration, and optimizing workflow. Capable of recording FHD (1080p) at 2500 frames per second, the HS7 is the first of Fastec Imaging’s new HS Series cameras to be released. The HS Series includes cameras with resolutions ranging from HD (720p) to UHD (2160p) and imaging rates exceeding 5 gigapixels/second.

High-speed cameras such as the HS7 are capable of producing stunning slow-motion video often associated with entertainment or marketing but are more often used for technical applications such as machine design and troubleshooting, analysis of droplets in microfluidic devices, the study of animal motion for neurological or robotics research, and Digital Image Correlation (DIC) for materials research and component testing.

For technical applications, efficient workflow is critical. The HS7 allows engineers and researchers to capture, display, analyze, transport, and store massive amounts of image data in ways that would be difficult using conventional cameras. According to Charles Mrdjenovich, President of Fastec, “The HS Series system architecture supports hosted applications that allow the user to do more work on camera and uses a fiber optic link to provide the fastest possible image transfers from camera to controller. The idea is to avoid having to wait on the camera to download images before starting analysis or beginning the next test.”

Ease of integration into diverse working environments is key to usability and the HS Series is compatible with a wide range of lenses and optical systems as well as industry standard displays, storage devices and other peripherals. Configurable I/O ports provide connectivity with other cameras, lights, triggers, and laboratory instruments for synchronization and data acquisition. The HS7’s support of unique user logins and configurations combined with lighting fast image archival to portable storage make it an ideal shared resource in academic/research settings where multiple high-speed camera applications are supported.

The HS7 may be operated directly via the dedicated controller or from any network-connected computer running Windows, macOS, or Linux. Smartphone or tablet control is provided via a web browser and an integrated TeamViewer client is available to provide remote support and control.
