Give seniors the best vaccine – highest efficacy with the least or zero side effects
PRIORITIZE SENIORS IN GCQ AREAS FOR ANTI-COVID-19 VACCINATION
Many cities and municipalities have allocated funds to purchase vaccine and will start vaccination drives as soon as the doses arrive. Given this, I appeal to them to prioritize senior citizens and coordinate with us so that we can help them develop a roadmap on how they can conduct their vaccination campaign with senior citizens.
I wrote to the League of Cities of the Philippines, League of Municipalities of the Philippines, and the Metro-Manila Council so their members will prioritize their senior citizens in the vaccines inoculation. This is in consideration of the increased risk and vulnerability of senior citizens from infection and from becoming a fatality of COVID-19.
In fact, in the recommendations of the Strategic Advisory Group of Experts on Immunization (SAGE) under the World Health Organization (WHO), senior citizens are considered one of the primary priority groups in the allocation of COVID-19 vaccination along with health care frontliners.
I appeal to the IATF and local officials to please give the seniors the best vaccines available based on high efficacy and high safety. Please prioritize the seniors in the urban centers where COVID-19 has forced authorities to keep under GCQ.
Mabuti naman na maraming klase ng bakuna na magiging available at ang iba pa nga inaasahan darating na sa Pebrero at Marso.
Mayroon nang listahan ng seniors mula sa mga database ng DSWD, GSIS, SSS, at PVAO dahil kasama ang seniors sa mga main clients ng mga ahensiyang iyan. The data just have to be merged and sorted, so this process of coming up with the final database for vaccination should be available rather quickly while we wait for the vaccines to arrive.
The information drive should be underway by now. This campaign should start with the urban centers where COVID-19 has forced authorities to keep under GCQ.
The science behind and underlying the vaccines should be explained thoroughly and in languages and tone the seniors can understand. Laymanize the science but tell the truth and allay the fears. (END)
