Award Winning PeaceJam Documentary Will be featured in a Google Play/Vimeo Exclusive Worldwide

The Global Launch of the new feature-length documentary film, “The Dalai Lama – Scientist” is set for December 10th, 2019. A worldwide distribution deal has been signed with Gravitas Ventures, and the film will be available in a Google Play/Vimeo Exclusive.

The film had its World Premiere at the Venice International Film Festival Production Bridge on August 31st, 2019, and since then it has won 12 awards at film festivals in London, Bhutan, India, Venezuela and the USA – including 6 Best Documentary awards and 3 Best Director awards. The film has already been accepted into many more film festivals worldwide.

Critical reaction has also been strong. The Independent Critic’s review states: “The Dalai Lama – Scientist is a revelation, both transcendent and immersive, and humanizes The Dalai Lama in a way I’ve never witnessed on the big screen. It’s beautiful to behold. An absolute must-see…I truly loved every minute of it.”

Community screenings of the film are already being held around the world in honor of the 30th Anniversary of the Dalai Lama winning the Nobel Peace Prize, and 12 months of community screenings are being planned. An educational distribution deal has also been signed with Kanopy, which will focus on selling the film to universities, colleges and libraries, along with an enhanced study guide.

The film is available in seven different languages: English, French, Spanish, Italian, Tibetan, Chinese and Hindi. The film will go live on hundreds of other streaming platforms around the world in the spring of 2020, via its distribution company Gravitas Ventures, and those platforms will include iTunes, Amazon, Vudu, YouTube, and many, many more.

With extensive, rare, and never before seen footage, this feature length film tells the very human story of the Dalai Lama that no one knows. In “The Dalai Lama – Scientist”, the Dalai Lama himself tells the unknown story of his lifelong journey into the world of science and technology, and how the world has changed as a result. From cosmology to quantum physics, cognitive science, neuroscience, molecular biology, epigenetics, and the nature of consciousness itself, the film tells the story of the life changing dialogues that began in earnest in 1987. It also shows the early days of collaborative research and publication, and it traces the significant changes in the direction of research and enquiry as the Dalai Lama touches the lives of leading scientists, in fundamental and often surprising ways.

The film was produced by an international team, and it was directed and written by award-winning female filmmaker, Dawn Gifford Engle. World-renowned scientists featured in the film include David Bohm, Anton Zeilinger, Paul Ekman, Aaron Beck, Francisco Varela, Richard Davidson, Michael Meany, Eric Lander, Christof Koch, and Nobel Prize Laureates Steven Chu and Yuan T. Lee.
