Lifecycle Biotechnologies Celebrates 20 Years of Business with Its Chata Biosystems Brand

Lifecycle Biotechnologies, a leading life science tools and services supplier, celebrates its Chata Biosystems brand of products reaching 20 years of business, a rare feat in today’s markets.

Chata was founded in 1999 in Fort Collins, Colorado to focus on prepackaged mobile phases for QC laboratories. After gaining a few significant clients, Lifecycle purchased the company with the vision to reinvent Chata from its laboratory sciences approach into a valued supplier of manufacturing processing solutions, including reagents for tissue processing. Chata quickly outgrew the original location and moved to its current Loveland, Colorado location in 2013. Several key and still active members of the team at Chata joined between 2004 and 2010. During these years, Chata developed the CHEM+NECT and CHEM+PROTECT delivery systems which formed the backbone of the company and continued to expand.

“Through the years, Chata has been able to identify and grow new, blue ocean markets to sustain growth and has more than doubled in size since we acquired it,” said Cody Yarborough, CEO of Lifecycle Biotechnologies. “Some of the near-term initiatives are entry into the molecular diagnostic reagent markets, global expansion, further vertical integration and continue growth of our animal science presence. I’m excited to see what Chata will look like in the next few years; I think we will need more manufacturing and warehouse space, more talent to drive new markets and better weaponization of our supply chain as Chata remains a very dynamic company with a bunch of different growth paths.”

From 2011 to today, Chata continued to evolve and launch products to expand and better support the markets it serves including…

  • the development and commercialization of the CHEM+POUR Bag, a bag designed to support aseptic manufacturing and to be an evolution and more sustainable option to a bottle,
  • the addition of semi-automated filling equipment to more efficiently and microbiologically fill the CHEM+NECT and CHEM+POUR Bags,
  • as well as adding powdered biochemicals to support non-aqueous chemical needs, autoclavable and pressurized pump systems, more robust and cleaner cubitainer alternatives, and expanded into numerous previously unserved markets.

Chata’s approach has always been based in their custom-engineered packaging systems, being experts at manufacturing custom and semi-custom aqueous reagents, chemicals, and medias under cGMP procedures with the highest level of quality. With their 20 years’ worth of experience manufacturing chemicals, reagents, and medias they offer thousands of different product formulations.
