Lumerical Collaborates with Cadence and TowerJazz to Bring Photonics to DesignCon

Lumerical, Cadence, and TowerJazz will present a hands-on tutorial at DesignCon: “Electronic/Photonic IC Design for 5G RF Applications”

DesignCon 2020
When: January 28-30, 2020
Where: Santa Clara Convention Center, Silicon Valley, CA

Lumerical will present a hands-on tutorial at DesignCon titled, “Electronic/Photonic IC Design for 5G RF Applications,” alongside industry collaborators, TowerJazz and Cadence. The tutorial is in conference track 3 titled, “Integrating Photonics & Wireless in Electrical Design.”

In this tutorial, TowerJazz, Cadence and Lumerical introduce a PDK-based design flow enabling RF designs for 5G and WiGig. Experts from the three companies will demonstrate how close integration between schematic capture, electronic-photonic co-simulation, and layout tools, together with electronic/photonic PDKs delivers silicon-proven 5G designs. Attendees will learn about EPDA co-design and co-simulation as well as photonic-specific compact model libraries (CMLs). Attendees will get hands-on experience with the latest EPDA design tools and foundry PDK. The tutorial takes place Tuesday, January 28th at 1:30 p.m.

Lumerical CTO, James Pond will also present, “Silicon photonics design for the data center and 5G,” in the Cadence Theater (booth #711) at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, January 29th.

About Lumerical
Lumerical develops photonic simulation software – tools which enable product designers to understand light, and predict how it behaves within complex structures, circuits, and systems. Since being founded in 2003, Lumerical has grown to license its design tools in over 50 countries and its customers include 10 of the top 15 companies in the S&P 1200 Global IT index, and 46 of the top 50 research universities as rated by the Times Higher Education rankings. Lumerical’s substantial impact on the photonic design and simulation community means its tools are among the most widely cited in the scientific press, with references in more than 10,000 academic publications and patents. Lumerical enables its customers to achieve more with light, and establish a leading position in the development of transformative technologies employing photonics.
