Nancy Briefs Joins Mitre Medical Corp. Board of Directors

Mitre Medical, an early-stage medical device company, adds a major life sciences entrepreneur to its board. Mitre is developing the Mitral Touch®, a beating heart option for surgeons designed to address both the mitral valve regurgitation (MR) and the enlarged left ventricle (LV) in patients at risk for heart failure.

Mitre Medical is pleased to announce the addition of Nancy Briefs to our Board of Directors. Ms. Briefs is a strategic business leader in life sciences, with extensive experience creating value, driving strategy, and launching products. In her career, Ms. Briefs has raised over $500 million in equity, including an IPO.

She has served on numerous start-up life science boards, including Apama Medical (acquired by Boston Scientific), CardiAQ, (acquired by Edwards Lifesciences), and Vista Medical, where she was a founding team member. Vista Medical was one of the pioneers of beating-heart surgery for mitral repair. During her time at Edwards, Ms. Briefs scrubbed in on over 300 valve surgeries.

“The market for less-invasive solutions for mitral valve repair continues to expand patient options, including the Mitral Touch® epicardial clip,” said Ms. Briefs. “I’m excited by the opportunity to join the Board of Mitre Medical as we prepare for our FDA Early Feasibility Study in the US.”

John MacMahon, CEO of Mitre Medical, adds: “We welcome Nancy’s enthusiasm and eagerness to jump on board, roll up her sleeves and join us in California next week for our mini-T training for the Mitral Touch. At Mitre Medical Corp., we continue to build a team with both surgical and catheter expertise that appreciates the disruptive advantage a beating heart option of MR & LV remodeling can provide surgeons and their patients.”

Please join us in welcoming her to our team.
