P2 Science Launches New Line of Renewable Cosmetics Ingredients

The Citropol® range of emollients is a patented class of materials derived from the forest.

P2 Science, Inc. (P2) today launched a brand new, unique and patented range of cosmetics ingredients, trade-named Citropol®. Today, P2 presented details of the first product in the range, Citropol 1A, in a webcast attended by over 500 members of the cosmetics industry. Citropol 1A has generated extraordinary results in a range of applications when compared wi.h commonly used silicones.

Manufacturing of the new product range has already started at P2’s manufacturing plant in Naugatuck, CT. The plant has been running 24 hours per day in recent weeks to build stock to support the launch.

“The commercial introduction of this product range is the culmination of many years of work on a lab and pilot plant stage, following the inventive breakthrough made by our team in Woodbridge,” said Patrick Foley, Chief Science Officer at P2.

Neil Burns, CEO added, “Not many people know that our roots go back to the Yale School of Forestry where our co-founder, Paul Anastas, holds a professorship. We are therefore really pleased to be able to introduce a product line derived from forestry feed-stocks.”

Citropol® 1A represents a genuinely new development in the personal care and cosmetics ingredients market. It is the first in a brand new class of low MW liquid polymers that are made from terpenes derived from the forest. Citropol 1A imparts distinct lubricating properties when used as low as 1% in skin or hair formulations. The result is a slippery, silky formulation that does not compromise human and environmental safety. Citropol 1A is compatible in cosmetics, skin care, hair care, fragrance, deodorizing and moisturizing applications
