La Union cop arrested in Pangasinan for illegal possession of assorted ammunition

ROSALES, Pangasinan, Nov. 27 (PNA) — A policeman from Naguilian, La Union was arrested when combined police elements raided his house in Barangay Camanggaan in Rosales, Pangasinan at about 5:45 a.m. Sunday.

The raiders, composed of elements of the Provincial Public Safety Company (PPSC) in Tayug, Provincial Investigation Division of the Pangasinan Police Provincial Office (PPPO) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), served a search warrant in the house of the suspect, PO3 Christian Caspillo, who is assigned in Naguilian, La Union.

The raid was spearheaded by Supt. Virgilio Pascua and Supt. Jackie Candelario, deputy police provincial director for operations.

A report of Chief Inspector Brendon Palisoc, officer-in-charge of the Rosales town police, said seized by the police in the house of Caspillo were 14 magazines of assorted firearms, three live ammunition for M-14 rifle, two ammunition for M-203 grenade launcher, 35 fired cartridges of caliber .45 pistol,three cartridges for caliber 9mm pistol, one slug, one bandolier and one heat-sealed sachet of suspected shabu

In a separate raid, lawmen found one metal hand grenade replica in the house of Barangay Chairman Victor Chan of Barangay Carmen West. The raid was covered by another search warrant.

Meanwhile, lawmen did not find any evidence in the house of Norman Chan, brother of the barangay chairman, also of Barangay Carmen West.

All the three search warrants were for violation of Republic Act No. 10591 (illegal possession of firearms and ammunition).
