BREAKING NEWS: PH approves Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine for emergency use
PFIZER, JOHNSON & JOHNSON COVID-19 VACCINES

As a resident of Quezon City, as Bagong Henerasyon Party-list Representative, and as Governor of the Rotary International, I commend the Food and Drug Administration on their decision to approve for emergency use the anti-COVID-19 vaccine of Pfizer and recently that of Janssen Pharmaceuticals of Johnson & Johnson for Phase 3 clinical trials.

The solid track record of these two pharmaceutical giants bode well for the Filipino people’s acceptance of their COVID-19 vaccines. Upon the strong foundation of trust, our country’s now has the means to defeat the coronavirus, especially here in Metro Manila, as well as in a few other urban centers.

Our expectation is that first priority will be given to health care frontliners and the people who will bring the vaccines to the rest of the Filipino people.

It is now up to the authorities and their partners to make sure the vaccines are given swiftly. We have the needed cold storage chain here in Metro Manila and other major cities to maintain the low temperatures necessary for the vaccines.

I also wish to assure the Department of Health that Rotary International here in the Philippines will continue and be unrelenting in its partnership with the DOH on its vaccination programs for COVID-19, polio, dengue, and other vaccine-preventable diseases. (END)
