Philippine Storm Forces Families To Flee Homes

Families pre-emptively evacuated due to ‘Marce’ now at 1,579

MANILA, Nov. 27 (PNA) — The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Sunday announced that 1,579 families or around 77,669 persons were pre-emptively evacuated in MIMAROPA, Regions 6, 8 and CARAGA to escape the severe effects of tropical storm “Marce”.

These families are now being sheltered in 64 evacuation centers in the above-mentioned regions.

Families directly affected by “Marce” totalled 1,993 families or 10,045 persons residing in 100 barangays in Region 6 and CARAGA.

Of these, 567 families consisting 2,612 persons are now being sheltered inside 39 designation evacuation centers in the two regions.

While 70 families or 342 persons are being served outside.

‘Marce’ affected a large portion of the Visayas and Mindanao when it intensified into a tropical storm Friday. (PNA)
