PNP conducts 40,371 anti-drug operations from July 1-Dec. 31

MANILA, Dec. 31 (PNA) — The Philippine National Police (PNP), being the kead agency in the government’s all-out war against illegal drugs, has conducted a total of 40,371 operations from July 1 to Dec. 31 this year.

In its data released on Saturday, the PNP said that under the “Project: Double Barrel Alpha”, a total of 2,167 drug personalities were killed and 43,114 others were arrested in the same period.

Under the “Project Tokhang”, a total of 5,911,306 houses were visited wherein a total of 1,007,153 illegal drug suspects have surrendered such that 74,916 were pushers and 932,237 were users.

In the Project Tokhang (Knock/Request), the houses of drug suspects are visited by police authorities and they are asked to turn back from their illegal activity, surrender or undergo rehabilitation.

However, 21 policemen were killed and 61 others were wounded during operations.

On the other hand, three members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) were killed in action and eight others were wounded.
