More infra projects near completion in Hernani town
Tacloban City (31 January 2006) — Residents of San Isidro might soon neglect their narrow trail leading to and from their place as the farm to market road in this far flung barangay of Hernani is nearing completion.
This was the report of Mayor Cesar Tagun in a short interview with Sammy Candido of PIA, Borongan. Now that the much needed road construction will soon be completed, farmers in this part of the municipality will find it better and easier to transport their products to the poblacion, Tagun added. The 2.5 kilometer road project is funded by DAR-ADB costing P6.8M with the ten percent LGU counterpart.
It was further learned that several plains of farmlands, cocolands and hills were traversed by the project hence the cost. At present, the stipulated 200 concrete stretch had already been done while the rest is being gravelled. Residents, school children specifically of nearby Sitio Lingsad, Padang are most likely to benefit likewise the project.
In addition, the rehabilitation of Lingsad-Carmen Communal Irrigation System is also in its full swing of construction. The Chief Executive assured that the work is now on its 35% completion. Covering some 65 hectares of Riceland in the Hernani agrifarm, the Hernaninhons are likely ensured of an increased rice production and stability in rice supply this year. Today with the concerted efforts of Congressman Nonoy Libanan, Governor Evardone, and Mayor Tagun together with the municipal council of Hernani, the irrigation project will soon benefit the farmers in this Hernani town.
