San Diego Biotechnology Network and Life Science Marketing Radio Launch SDBN BUZZ Podcast to Spotlight Successes and Confront the Challenges Facing the Biotechnology Hub

Foundational Sponsors Labviva and Brex Demonstrate Their Support for Continuing the Culture of Life Science Innovation in San Diego

The San Diego Biotechnology Network (SDBN) and Life Science Marketing Radio (LSMR) have joined forces in launching the biweekly SDBN BUZZ podcast focused on connecting the region’s biotech community and discussing topics important for its further growth. SDBN BUZZ podcast will also serve to promote the region and attract external employers, investors, scientists, and others who wish to do business, have a presence, or relocate to the area. SDBN BUZZ podcast is proud to announce that two companies supporting the life science industry, Labviva and Brex, are Foundational Sponsors of the podcast, supporting the early growth of the new series.

The San Diego Biotechnology Network (SDBN), founded in 2008 by Mary Canady, has always been about forming a life science community and making connections. Through events and online interactions, SDBN has made tens of thousands of connections between scientists and biotech professionals. Canady met Chris Conner on social media over their shared interest in cutting edge life science marketing strategies. Chris founded the Life Science Marketing Radio (LSMR) podcast, which has amassed more than 70,000 downloads of thought-leading content. Canady and Conner co-produce the SDBN BUZZ podcast, with Conner hosting the episodes.

“Chris Conner blazed a trail for business-focused life science podcasts. He opened up my eyes to the power of connecting a community through shared conversations,” said SDBN BUZZ co-producer Mary Canady. “SDBN has united the San Diego life science community through innovative events and resources, and we look forward to amplifying these connections through the SDBN BUZZ podcast.”

SDBN BUZZ podcast will cover a set of themed topics important to the growth of the region, including hot biotechnology trends, resources for startups, career advice, science outreach, and with a focus on diversity and inclusion. SDBN BUZZ podcast’s featured guests will represent traditionally underrepresented groups in the life sciences, with at least 50% of the podcast guests being women and/or minorities.

The San Diego biotechnology hub is highly collaborative, and the SDBN BUZZ launch is supported by two Foundational Sponsors, Labviva and Brex, each providing special offers to support the new podcast:

  • Labviva creates a unique relationship between scientific content and products across hundreds of brands and suppliers resulting in a seamless purchasing experience. Labviva is supporting SDBN BUZZ launch by offering 10% on a first order at labviva.com/buzz using the promo code buzz.
  • Brex launched in Y Combinator’s Winter 2017 batch and since then has been solely focused on building a business credit card for scaling companies. Brex understands that life sciences are hard, long, and resource intensive, which is why it’s building financial technology to make the lives of the founders/operators of these companies easier. Brex is offering waived card fees for life at brex.com/sdbn

Flexible and affordable sponsorships are available for the podcast series, and organizations will be able to leverage exposure to SDBN’s 25,000 followers, in addition to reaching podcast listeners, who are often educated, affluent, and loyal.

Life Science Marketing Radio’s Chris Conner co-produces and hosts SDBN BUZZ, and he brings not only his experience in hosting and growing a successful podcast, but also a savvy sense for the business and marketing skills that help companies, and individuals, succeed in life science.
