Shoreline Biome Launches Convenient Lysis-Free DNA Amplicon Product

Amplicon kits offer solution for microbiome researchers seeking Shoreline Biome’s amplicon technology

Shoreline Biome, a microbiome research company that develops tools for characterizing microbiome populations down to the strain level, recently unveiled a convenient new solution for the generation of 16S and StrainID amplicons

The Shoreline Wave amplicon kit contains the same innovative amplification capabilities as the Shoreline Complete kit. It is a convenient solution for microbiome researchers seeking Shoreline’s innovative amplicon technology.

“We’ve de-coupled the lysis from the amplification in this new kit,” Shoreline Biome’s co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer explains. “The Shoreline Wave kits give you access to our amplification assay without the lysis step you get in our Shoreline Complete kits.”

Shoreline Wave’s smart primer design and unique dual-end barcoding reduce amplification bias and maximize usable reads. Full-length 16S and StrainID (16S-ITS-23S) amplicon kits are available for the PacBio Sequencing platforms in 16-sample and 96-sample formats. Kits for the Illumina platforms are available for V1–V3 and V4 amplicons in 96-sample format.

The features of the Illumina kits include:

  •     One-step PCR adds barcodes and Illumina sequencing adapters—just pool and sequence.
  •     Unique dual-end barcodes reduce read errors and minimize index hopping.

The features of the PacBio kits include:

  •     One-step PCR adds barcodes. Pooled samples ready for SMRTbell Template Preparation.
  •     Unique dual-end barcodes, in combination with SBanalyzerTM software, increases useable reads from 50% to 99% on PacBio sequencers.
  •     Compatible with the Shoreline Biome SBanalyzer software Athena database.
