FULL-FACE HELMETS + FACE MASKS ENOUGH TO PROTECT MOTORCYCLE DRIVERS, PASSENGERS FROM COVID-19

DOH and PGH have clearly, unambiguously, and repeatedly said how the combination use a medical-grade face mask and face shield covering the entire face provides high protection from COVID-19.

Motorcycle manufacturers and engineers have spoken out against the motorcycle barriers citing the lack of scientific basis and logic for the use of the barriers.

I therefore appeal anew to the IATF to stop the mandatory use of plastic barriers between motorcycle driver and passengers.

Following the Motorcycle Helmet Act regulations on full-face helmets in combination with mandatory use of face mask already provides high and effective protection against COVID-19.

Those motorcycle barriers are useless and significantly increase the risk of crashes, serious injury, and death on the roads.

The advice to drive slowly is also ill-advised especially for driving on national highways like EDSA, Commonwealth Avenue, and Roxas Boulevard because of the speed limits and necessity of keeping proper pace and distance vis-a-vis other vehicles on those roads.
