Stranded in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – At least 270 stranded Dabawenyos in Luzon returned here on Wednesday via a sweeper flight organized by the local government.

In a radio interview, Mayor Sara Z. Duterte said the sweeper flight carried mostly overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) who were returning to the city after being stranded when Luzon was placed under enhanced community quarantine.

“This was the second sweeper flight the city government had commissioned to bring home Dabawenyos stranded in Luzon,” Mayor Sara said.

All the repatriated residents and other persons have undergone rapid tests as part of the procedure and are currently under a 14-day quarantine.

Duterte said she expected the sweeper flight to carry about 400 people but only 270 availed of the flight.

Earlier, a total of 120 Dabawenyos from Clark, Pampanga arrived here after being stranded in Luzon following the travel restrictions in March because of the coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) pandemic. (PNA)
