Study: Multi Radiance Medical Super Pulsed Laser Therapy Device Penetrates Equine Skin Better Than Class IV Laser

According to a recent study, Multi Radiance Medical’s MR4 ACTIVet PRO Super Pulsed Laser had up to 10 times the amount of light penetrating the skin barrier compared to a Class IV laser.

The Journal of Equine Veterinary Science recently published a research study concluding that Multi Radiance Medical’s (MRM) MR4 ACTIVet PRO Super Pulsed Laser Therapy device better penetrates both light and dark equine skin compared to a Class IV therapeutic laser.

Conducted by Stelio Pacca Loureiro Luna, et al. at the Sao Paulo State University School of Veterinary Medicine and Animal Science in Sao Paulo, Brazil, the study aimed to determine which of the many commercial laser therapy devices provides better light penetration in order to provide better treatment of common equine conditions like tendinitis and desmitis in both light-skinned and dark-skinned horses.

The researchers measured light penetration profiles in 12 healthy horses: six with light skin and six with dark skin. Using intestinal clamps, the researchers measured light penetration through a cutaneous skin fold.

The results showed that the MRM Super Pulsed Laser had up to 10 times the amount of light penetrating the skin barrier compared to the Class IV laser, which suggests the MRM device has a better therapeutic clinical effect for treating stubborn tendon issues.

“Light penetration was greater in dark skin, light skin, and in both kinds of skin grouped in the PBMT device [MRM Super Pulsed Laser] versus class IV laser,” the study concluded.

This study joins the 30+ peer-reviewed, published research studies validating MRM laser therapy technology as safe and effective in both human and veterinary medicine.
