Streamlined and affordable, the FlowCam 5000 automates manual microscopy and simplifies research
SCARBOROUGH, MAINE (PRWEB) JULY 26, 2019
Fluid Imaging Technologies announced today the launch of a streamlined and affordable instrument, the FlowCam 5000, for every organization, agency and research institution that monitors water quality for drinking, recreation and research. The FlowCam 5000 is ideal for general monitoring applications, process-specific monitoring applications like drinking water utilities, as well as for aquatic research and educational institutions. Using flow imaging microscopy, FlowCam instruments provide digital images that allow for rapid count and measurement of organisms in a liquid sample.
For 20 years, Fluid Imaging Technologies, Inc. has been the leader in international water quality monitoring instrumentation with customers in over 50 countries. Its new FlowCam 5000 is streamlined for rapid data acquisition and analysis. It analyzes freshwater and marine samples, calculates cell counts, concentration and biovolume, and provides semi-automated classification of taxa; all at an affordable price that now puts the FlowCam technology within reach of smaller non-profits, monitoring facilities, and government institutions. Financing options are available.
“As part of our mission to support scientific research, we are excited to be able to offer the FlowCam technology to research institutions, universities and non-profits that, until now, could not afford the benefits of a FlowCam,” said Harry Nelson, VP Aquatic Markets at Fluid Imaging Technologies.
Aquatic research, monitoring, and educational institutions will appreciate the streamlined approach of the new instrument that delivers the benefits of Fluid Imaging Technologies’ extensive industry expertise and the value of the FlowCam technology at an affordable price point.
Drinking water utilities will benefit from the ease of use, the ability to identify cyanobacteria, taste and odor algae, nuisance and filter clogging algae, the semi-automation of cell counts for cyanobacterial colonies and filaments, as well as for monitoring filter performance.
About Fluid Imaging Technologies:
Fluid Imaging Technologies manufacturers the FlowCam imaging and analysis family of instruments which now encompasses six models engineered to analyze particles and organisms ranging in size from 300 nm to 5 mm. The paired intelligent software, VisualSpreadsheet®, utilizes image recognition technology and measures 40+ morphological parameters including biovolume, coloration, shape, and size to classify taxa.
