Fire razes warehouse in CDO on New Year’s Eve

CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY, Jan 1 (PNA) — A fire of still unknown origin gobbled up a warehouse filled with flammable liquids and medical products in the village of Cugman at the height of the New Year’s Eve revelry here.

Fire Chief Insp. Rommel Villafuerte, of the city fire department here, said that only one building owned by the Felusa Corporation was razed by the fire of still unknown origin.

Although no injuries were reported, fire investigators said that the initial amount of damages was estimated at PHP3 million. However, the final cost of damages due to the fire would depend on the assessment made by the building’s owner.

An employee of the Felusa Corporation, a sister company of the Mercury Drug, said that the stocks in the warehouse were worth PHP20 million.

He said that the fire was tapped in 48 minutes past midnight at the height of the New Year’s Eve revelry and was placed under control at 1:57 a.m. on Sunday. (PNA)
