Zoé Berthiaume-Dutrisac Joins Satellogic as Chief of Engineering

Top Technical Executive to Play Critical Role as Company Accelerates Production to Meet Customer Demand and Democratize Access to Satellite Imagery Data

Satellogic, the first company to develop a scalable earth observation platform with the ability to remap the entire planet at both high-frequency and high-resolution, today announced the appointment of Zoé Berthiaume-Dutrisac as Chief of Engineering. Berthiaume-Dutrisac will oversee satellite development, production and operations for Satellogic’s global team, including managing technical timelines and guiding engineering strategy and goals, while overseeing quality and troubleshooting.

Berthiaume-Dutrisac brings over 18 years of experience in new product development to Satellogic, having managed satellite communication subsystems and overseen 200-member engineering groups in the design, development, and manufacturing of multi-unit complex antenna systems at MDA, a trusted provider of industry-leading radar satellites, space robotics and sensors, and satellite subsystems. Most recently, Berthiaume-Dutrisac also served as R&D Director at Tekna, the leader in ICP plasma systems. Berthiaume-Dutrisac’s extensive background in product leadership has equipped her with the necessary skills to lead a multidisciplinary and diverse technical team.

She joins Satellogic following the company’s successful launch earlier this year of two Mark IV spacecraft into low-Earth orbit. Satellogic has secured launch agreements to put another 80+ satellites in orbit over the next 24 months, allowing them to accomplish their goal of a Constellation capable of delivering weekly, high-resolution remaps of the entire planet at a price that will set a new standard for access and affordability in this market. Berthiaume-Dutrisac assumes this key C-level position to oversee the development and deployment of the satellite fleet and help the company execute against their ambitious roadmap.

“I believe we are on the cusp of another data revolution, fueled by the power of satellite technology and AI, but it’s only going to happen if we can bring down the cost of geospatial imagery,” said Berthiaume-Dutrisac, new Chief of Engineering. “Through vertical integration and innovative engineering practices, Satellogic is well positioned to lead this revolution. The democratization of access to imagery opens the door to novel applications that will literally change the world, and I’m so excited to be joining the company that is at the forefront of making this happen.”

Since launching in 2010, Satellogic has raised $110M in funding and launched 10 spacecraft into orbit. Through their DSC offerings, Satellogic helps governments looking to kickstart or supplement their space programs. The company also serves a variety of industries, including agriculture, forestry, energy, and finance and insurance.

“After ten years of focusing and investing in R&D, we’ve built a strong foundation of efficiencies that make Satellogic the leader in scalable, high-resolution Earth Observation. Now we are ready to take the company to the next level, and it’s the perfect timing to bring someone that can help us in scaling our platform to deliver unprecedented value to customers world-wide,” said Satellogic Founder and CEO Emiliano Kargieman. “Zoé has an incredible track record when it comes to bringing complex technologies to market, and it was clear from the start that she is a perfect cultural match for our company. As we continue to drive down the cost of imagery and serve our customers, Zoé’s skills and the experience she brings from her work in the space industry will allow us to execute faster, and deliver greater value. We’re very proud to have her join our team and oversee this next phase of growth.”

Founded in 2010, Satellogic is a global company with more than 180 employees and offices in Buenos Aires, Córdoba, Montevideo, Barcelona, Tel Aviv, Beijing, Charlotte and Miami.
